Child Safety Standards
Last updated: August 21, 2026
This document is available in English and Portuguese. The English version is the reference for people using the app outside Brazil.
Nimo Chat has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) — in any form, on any account, without exception. This document describes our standards, how to report a problem, and what we do once a report comes in.
Please also read our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
1. Minimum age
Nimo Chat is intended exclusively for people 18 and older. We do not allow accounts belonging to minors under any circumstance. When creating an account, a person declares they are 18 or older — accounts identified as belonging to a minor are suspended and removed.
2. What is prohibited
The following is prohibited without exception:
- Sending, requesting, or sharing any image, video, audio, or text that sexualizes, exploits, or endangers a child or teenager.
- Using Nimo Chat to groom, contact, or attempt to meet a minor with any sexual or exploitative intent.
- Pretending to be a minor, or encouraging someone else to pretend, as part of any of the conduct described above.
- Sharing links, external contacts, or instructions that direct someone to this kind of content outside the app.
Any account involved is permanently banned, and the case may be reported to the relevant authorities.
3. How to report
Every conversation and every post on Nimo Chat has a report button. When reporting, there is a specific reason — "Minor" — made for exactly this situation. You can also write directly to abuso@chatnimo.com.
Reports involving a suspected minor get top priority: if the two people actually had a conversation together, the reported account is automatically suspended on the spot, before any manual review even happens. That exists precisely so an urgent case never has to wait on human review alone.
4. What happens after a report
- Suspected minor with a confirmed shared conversation → immediate automatic suspension of the reported account.
- Any account reported by three different people, for any reason, is automatically suspended, even before manual review.
- Severe reports (minor, nudity, or violence) or two or more reports against the same account go into a human review queue.
- Someone from our moderation team reviews the queue and decides: keep the ban (permanent) or clear the account if the report doesn't hold up.
- Banned accounts are removed from the matchmaking queue — they can no longer talk to anyone in the app.
Photos and videos sent in chat are view-once: they disappear after being seen. That doesn't prevent a report — what the person saw can be described in the report's details field.
5. Cooperation with authorities
We retain a banned account's data for as long as needed to respond to lawful requests from authorities. Cases of child exploitation are reported to the relevant agencies — in Brazil, to the Federal Police and/or SaferNet Brasil; outside Brazil, to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) or the equivalent authority in the person's country.
6. Point of contact
For questions about these standards, or to report a child safety issue directly without going through the app, write to abuso@chatnimo.com. This inbox is monitored by the person responsible for Nimo Chat and for compliance with Google Play's CSAE policies.
